Mumbai Marathon

 
The lead vehicle followed by the lead pack at the halfway mark of the Mumbai Marathon held on 18Jan09. They were flagged off at 0740hrs from Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus. This picture was clicked at 0854hrs. The runner alongside the lead vehicle is Milind Soman - the only runner from the glamour world of modelling and films who ran the Full Marathon of 42.19kms. There were a total of 35000+ participants in the various categories of the Marathon like the Dream Run and Half Marathon. The total prize money at stake was USD250,000/-

  14. Heh. I actually saw this last night, but got so totally blown away by your Monochrome Monday shot I forgot to comment on this one!

    Marathons in general seem a little insane to me, but I suppose somebody's gotta do it. Hard to imagine 35,000 people all running ta once. Although when I was in the army we had a "division run" once that had about half that many. The formation was longer than the actual run, so by the time the last ones got started, the first ones were already finishing! Of course, we weren't running 26 miles either... that makes a big difference.

  17. nice...one question..was the marathon include the Bandra-Worli sealink...coz i can see the towers in the distance...so is the BWSL done? Thnx
