Skywatch Friday

The 'Dahi Handi' or the pot of curds tied enticingly to lure the 'Govindas' to come and break it and feast thereafter. The clear blue sky offsets it beautifully. Thankfully the rains stayed away.
Yesterday was 'Janmashtami' - birthday of Lord Krishna who loved milk and milk products. It is celebrated all over the country in various ways. In Mumbai and Maharashtra there are these pots tied up and 'Govindas' (another name for Krishnas) come in huge groups and form human pyramids and break them to be rewarded handsomely by the organiser.
Check out videos on the human pyramids here

  8. I've only seen this practice in Tamil movies, I don't think the Indian here celebrated it here.
