My World

Hutments being replaced by skyscrapers in Andheri, Mumbai.

P.S EDIT: In response to all those wondering about the fate of the people occupying those hutments - There are various schemes that are offered depending on how long these people have been occupying that land. Either they are offered apartments in a building there or offered compensation to shift elsewhere.

  6. This sad view is being seen in many places these days. Hopefully, they'll be replaced in a way that will benefit the current residents.

  8. Feel bad for these poor reople, though they are given a place to live it is usually in the far away..they have to re-locate themselves and find new jobs in the area.

  15. How dramatic a photo! I was wondering what would happen to the displaced people. The apartments look to be a better option for living than the hutments...
