  4. I think I've seen birds like this one -- or its cousin species -- in both Malaysia and Hong Kong, and in quite large numbers. So it's really hard for me to think that they're near extinction in Mumbai! :O

  6. Good Morning Such gentle creatures- add beauty to life around us.Childrens stories on Gupchi-ka abound; As children in early 50s..in fact till 70s we used to see them nest in our homes on crevices in roofs & ceilings; -but sadly have been depleting in cities. Now mostly seen in smaller towns , places esp where traditional houses exist-but happily Mumbai has many of them. God Protect them - Thanks -TR

  8. My grandmother always called them "Spuggles". Here in North America, they are ubiquitous. I very much like Sparrows.

    Mine are up.

  9. Sparrows are thought to be under threat in England too but there are a lot where I live - and it's hard to think such an ordinary bird can find life tough. Do you know why its numbers are going down in India?

  25. I won't ask you how you managed to capture a sparrow sitting still, because I won't understand any of the photographic details. suffice to say that it is a stunning pic and she is a beauty.

  26. It's population is in decline..? That's really sad. I used to see many during my childhood in Nashik. Now I see them again in Toronto.
