Kitchen?

This structure must have been a kitchen in the Sion fort. Nothing mentioned about it though. What do you think?

  3. A bit odd to have a open fireplace in Mumbai considering the monsoons.

    1. These are the ruins of a centuries old fort and the roof has fallen off.

  4. Not sure... Maybe. We still have those old fashioned kitchens in some houses in Kerala (like a chulha, but not exactly that). The structure looks similar.

  9. I'd say it probably needs a renovation. I mean, really, I don't even see a dishwasher!

  10. What a beautiful capture and indeed something to wonder about but I figure the concept of a standing kitchen wasn't popular then. The arches indicate that they are short pillars supporting some kind of a podium. I'd imagine its simply a mounted platform to a lookout point or where the warriors stood and fired the cannon.
Im following this thread, in case some historian does give us an answer! :)

  12. Are we talking ovens here? If it was in the States, I'd probably say urinals. Sorry.
