Children enjoying on the mini ferris wheel in Dharavi. Poverty has not deterred them from enjoying the pleasures of childhood. Mumbai offers opportunities to make a living for all those who are willing to put in hard work like the guy on the extreme right who is the operator of the wheel and turns it manually. It is this hope to earn a living that draws so many migrants from all over the country and populates Mumbai.

That looks interesting! I couldn't see what it was at first, but I see it's a low-tech portable mini-ferris wheel! It's obviously giving the children lots of pleasure.

ReplyDeleteI think this is a great shot. Following what you wrote, the bright colors of the ferris wheel are like a symbol of colors of hope in the middle of the poverty. Those colors really stand out in the midst of all that looks rather sad around it. That is what hope is.
