Modakam

Modakam is the name of the café in Prabhadevi adjacent to the Siddhivinayak (Ganesha) temple. The café is famous for its 'Ukdiche modak'. Ukdiche modak is a traditional Maharashtrian steamed sweet dumpling made from rice flour dough and filled with coconut and jaggery.

Peace prevails before the devotees gather at the Siddhi Vinayak temple. You can see the security gate at the extreme left. As time passes the queue will start. Now you can even see a dog resting.

Siddhi Vinayak temple

The Siddhi Vinayak temple in Prabhadevi dedicated to Lord Ganesh is a very famous religious destination in Mumbai and always under threat from terrorists, hence behind a lot of security barricades. The street outside is also busy. This was shot at seven in the mornning. Due to parking problems the preferred transport is bus or taxi.
