Koli Holi

Holi is a Hindu spring festival celebrated in India and Nepal, also known as the "festival of colours" or the "festival of love". For Kolis (fishing community) it is a time to parade their best. All the coastal villages in Mumbai celebrate it in their unique fashion. This image is from 'Vesave' or 'Versova' a fishing community village in Andheri, a Mumbai suburb. Holi was celebrated on 12th and 13th March 2017. The 1st day is celebrated as Holika dahan signifying the victory of good over evil. Holika was a demoness in Hindu Vedic scriptures, who was burnt to death with the help of God Vishnu. The story of Holika dahan signifies the triumph of good over evil. I shall post a pic a day over the next few days to show how it is celebrated by the Kolis.

Our World

On 08th Sep I had the privilege of attending a bloggers’ meet organised by Blogadda and HP printers

at FatCat restaurant in Andheri, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Blogadda.

I reached in time and was warmly welcomed by Harish and his team from Blogadda.

Soon after, the introductions began and I loved the way it was anchored by Sagarika the livewire from

Blogadda who kept everyone in good humour with her wit. Five adjectives were flashed on the screen to describe the HP printer and we were asked to weave at least one of them to describe ourselves in a single

sentence. The smartest was by Nelton D’Souza who won an HP printer!
This was followed by a brief spiel by Mr.Ghosh on why the HP printer is the best thing that happened to

mankind!
Despite the tremendous advances in digital technology, the feel of your work, be it photography, a poem or a story, is felt so much better when you see and hold it on paper than on a flat screen. Hence, despite ecological concerns, I would still like to have a printout of my favorite work.
We were all given a chance to discuss our blogging concerns and how to take it to the next level. Lot of ideas were thrown around and it was generally agreed that as bloggers we do have a certain responsibility towards our readers who we should never take for granted and  strive to give our best always. Corinne also pointed out that one should be sincere in one’s efforts not only in blogging but also while reading and commenting on other blogs.
All this talk had made us hungry and we were served some delicious snacks. The snacks at FatCat were

good and the service excellent!
All the bloggers were now asked to form into 3 teams to play Jenga on 3 tables. This was the time needed

for the organisers to decide upon the various prize winners for the meet.
There were prizes of gift hampers given away for the most number of tweets during the meet, the funniest picture tweeted of the meet, the most colourful personality of the meet and many others. It was almost a gift fest though I did not win any as was busy capturing the happening moments of the meet to share with you guys! No regrets!

Had a fun time meeting up with old blogger friends and made some new blogger friends too and of course an 8GB Flash drive gifted by HP to each one of us!
