On what type of occasions are these (and the decorations in some of the bags) worn?
@spacedlaw, these are used for any celebration including marriages and during festive times there are plays based on myths and legends in which the characters use these costumes.
il y a un beau choix et les couleurs sont superbes
Beautiful shot! Indian just love anything golden, right?
Oh boy !!! People use those. They must belong like with their Regional Dresses. This is so exotic for a Scandinavian.ps. I have almost the same pic as Olgafoto :)
Do you also wear such a turban every day .... LOL(Its fantastic to see it and those festivals are very special with those turbans ;)

They are beautiful!Léia
Yet to see somebody wearing one...except in KJo movies. I like the the Rajastani type...the red coloured ones with dots...
The colors work great in this photo. Love the blue with the yellow.
This is an interesting shot, but what do you mean here by "turbans"? I'm confused.
Golden turbans! Amazing. I'll bet they're expensive, too!
@ Your EG Tour Guide,The turban is a headdress consisting of a long scarf-like single piece of cloth wound around the head. To check out the different types of turbans check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turban
I'd never have guessed what they were, but they certainly brighten up the scene!
