ABC Wednesday - P for Puntee

This is a decorated version of the earthenware lamp called 'Puntee'. The Puntees are lit in all households during Diwali - Festival of Lights symbolizing the win of Good over evil and Light over Darkness.

    Nice close up of the lamp - looks like silver trim? And I wonder if the candle is scented. It's all very lovely.

    I had no idea that matka diyas... as they call them in Delhi are called 'puntee' in Mumbai.
