This is on the flyover at Lower Parel which was, till a decade back, a predominantly textile mill area. The flyover did not exist then. Now the area is known for shopping malls, corporate offices, restaurants and amusement areas employing quite a few of those people who lost their jobs when the textile mills closed.

Great shot! Interesting how areas change over the years!
ReplyDeleteMy friend said each time she returns to Mumbai, it's different. So many changes, she gets lost:)
ReplyDeleteI hope to see Mumbai someday too.
Very interesting shot of Mumbai...and it's so good to hear that people who lost their jobs were able to obtain others. Mumbai reacted well to change.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to read that the area rebounded when the mills closed. Where are the mills now? China?
ReplyDeleteIrreversible transformation. Not sure if I am thankful.
ReplyDeleteYou know, except for the traffic being on the wrong side of the road, this could be in any of the larger cities right here in my home state.
ReplyDeleteOkay, the ads on the light posts would be different too. But you get my meaning.
Love the haze half hiding the towers in the background. Gives it kind of a Land of Oz feeling.
Very nice shot. I can see two twin towers at the far end.
ReplyDeleteChange and motion is the essence of Mumbai and your shot captures that essence so well.
ReplyDeleteBet the changes are occurring very rapidly!
ReplyDeleteWas it just cloudy or is that smog?
une belle évolution, si cela donne du travail, c'est vraiment très bien
ReplyDeletea nice evolution, if it gives job, it is really very well
It is the same the world over how industrial areas evolve into shopping malls with the same shops.
ReplyDeleteI see where the eclipse is going to be best seen just north of Mumbai...are you going to take photos...be a nice "skywatch" pic?
ReplyDeleteIt's cool. I like the perspective.
ReplyDeleteThe only constant in life is change.
ReplyDeletethe hazy skies add to the overall feel of this shot .. you do such wonderful photography
ReplyDeleteGreat shot from a normal street ;)

ReplyDeleteWill try to stay as far away from Mumbai as I can! Will be content to watch it thru your pics.

ReplyDeleteyour world makes me feel so small
