This year the monsoons in Mumbai arrived late due to which the lakes supplying water to the city were drying up. This resulted in severe water shortage and restricted water supply, leading to people using all available utensils to store water in homes. Fortunately with the arrival of the monsoons the situation has improved and the lakes are filling up!

We all have our problems, don't we? Here in Florida we have to be prepared for hurricanes...so we stock up on water. Then, if it looks like one will hit, we fill up bathtubs and every other container with fresh water...
ReplyDeleteCrazy but necessary!
Have to admit that we're blessed here in Seattle in that a water shortage is not one of our problems. Having said that, this has been the driest spring/early summer in years, so grass and plants are drying up more than usual! Great post as always!
ReplyDeleteWe've been short on rain here in Minnesota, too. Finally, this week, we received a lot of rain - hurrah!
ReplyDeleteWe know very well the value of water!
ReplyDeleteThis photo certainly brings home your point. A serious situation.
ReplyDeleteIsrael is running out of water year by year. I wonder if I will be posting a similar photo someday.
Must be difficult to be run out of water!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend:)
Drought - something we also know too well in Australia, though it has been a good autumn for rain in Sydney.

Ouch - the drought must have hurt. Not a problem this year in London however!
ReplyDeleteI fear that that will be our case here in Texas also. We have been in a severe drought for months....
ReplyDeleteMine is posted...this time it's sewing/crafting utensils. If you have a minute or two from your busy day, I hope you'll stop by to view.
Have a great weekend.
Yes we now the value of water !!!
ReplyDeleteIn our country no problems :)
It is winter now in Australia. This is usually a rainy period for us! We are getting rain but not always in water catchment areas. Sydney NSW seems to have filled their dams, but here in Melbourne Victoria, we are at 26% and still on water restrictions! Perhaps we'll be using utensils this way this summer!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot and very informative post! Thanks a lot for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend

Bonjour Luxembourg
your water vessel collection looks interesting - coca-cola bottles are very versatile!
ReplyDeleteJust shows that anything without a hole can be used to hold water. I like the coke bottle!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea. Thanks for such an illuminating moment. Living in the Great Lakes area, I tend to take such things for granted!
ReplyDeleteSometimes even where I live no water
ReplyDeleteand fill all the pots and bottles.
It almost seems like my picture!
:-)
last winter we had a terrible freeze and our pipes busted we used anything and everything to hold onto water
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I too have lived and slept between the buckets at times!!

We had a record breaking drought here two summers ago and this kind of thing became a very common sight. I forget how long it lasted now, but the local reservoirs were down to a 90-day supply. It got pretty scary for a while.
