The Festival of the elephant headed God 'Lord Ganesh' began in Mumbai in right earnest on the 23Aug09. Have presented a collage to show the different activities that go on, on the eve of the festival.
Lord Ganesh is considered to be the God who removes all obstacles from the path of your life, hence is worshopped at the beginning of any auspicious ocassion.

Marvelous collage! And definitely think I need to make his acquaintance!
ReplyDeleteNamaskara! I bought a big, beautiful, wooden Genesha when I was in Bengaluru in February. It sits atop my file cabinet in my office and brings me good luck! Dhanyavadagalu - regards from EAGAN daily photo
ReplyDeleteLord Ganesh sounds like a good god to pray to. Who doesn't need a few obstacles removed here and there?

ReplyDeleteOh wow.. so nice! I love the festivities in Mumbai during this time.. the music, the prayers.. the get togethers... wow!! I was there one year.. and my cousin & I went from one place to another paying our respects to Lord Ganesha.. Then we were invited for lunch to a few households on the day they submerged the statue... The food is also excellent.. specially the sweets.. (modak I think!! its called!!)
