This is beautiful! We always hoped that these small row-houses would exist for a lot more time but the way the population in Mumbai is increasing with so many people pouring in for Job opportunities and settling down here, it doesn't look possible.
Lol! as I'm a sucker for quaint little houses I have no problem reading your description of urban apartments. It's great that one quaint house has remained. May it stay there forever.
A picture i can relate to..soon our old house is going to be hand over to the builders as because of so many other high rise apartments surrounding our house,we faced severe water logging problem once its monsoon....what a cute little house .
That unfortunately seems to be the way things are heading everywhere. Here if the older homes aren't being replaced by an apartment building or a strip mall, they're being leveled in favor of a "McMansion" that the average person can't ever afford.
I doubt I will ever get to Mumbai in person so visiting you here daily has let me see a world I would never see otherwise.. thank you Deepak for these amazing glimpses into your world
Great capture! We've lost many of those little houses here in Seattle as apartment complexes take over everywhere.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I'm interested in the Rambo circus posters. I'm having all kinds of funny visions of Sylvester Stalone in clown make-up. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely... Looks so calm & serene... Like its not in Mumbai really!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely little house. Hopefully, it won't have to give way to a wrecker's ball in the name of "improvements."
ReplyDeleteI like this, Magiceye. These are the kinds of homes that make for neighborhoods and communities in a way that huge apartment complexes do not.

ReplyDelete- Pixellicious Photos
Looks no different from the old houses in Kerala, which are called Tharawads and now steadily vanishing!

ReplyDeleteliving in this house would be an experience. I love the structure and the greenery around it.
ReplyDeletebelle petite maison. cela serait stupide de la détruire pour faire un complexe
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah, only a few people can live in a nice little house, but thousands can live in a block of flats - that's democracy. Lovely photo.

ReplyDeleteindeed there should be more little houses like these
ReplyDeleteIt's nice indeed - I would be great to see more such places around:)

ReplyDeleteIt is very different from here. It seems like it would be cozy inside.
ReplyDeleteIt's a global chageover, losing small personality neighborhoods to ruban sprawl.
