The dress that the ladies are wearing in the picture is the 'salwar kameez' popularly known as the Punjabi dress. The top is called 'Kameez' and the bottom is called the 'salwar'. This is commonly worn by the women here for its comfort level while commuting and working.

Fascinating post and terrific photo as always. Really enjoyed this one in particular -- must be the clothes-loving woman in me!
ReplyDeleteMy choice too....nice capture.
ReplyDeleteI was always so impressed by the women's beautiful sarees and other clothes when I was in Bengaluru! Dhanyavadagalu!
ReplyDeleteIt's more commonly known here as Punjabi Suit to the other races, some of their colors are really awesome.
ReplyDeleteSensible and lovely clothes.

I love this style of clothes. I have been to a few Punjabi social events in California and here in Seattle, and the clothes the women wear at them are so fantastically beautiful and look comfortable also. I like the idea of thin pants under a flowing short dress. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteGood colours! Nice capture!
ReplyDeleteWow... I agree... its amazingly comfortable during travel!!
ReplyDeleteYour "Kameez" and the French "Chemise" are clearly related. I wonder who influenced who in that exchange...

I like the clothes the women are wearing; if it were acceptable in the U.S., I wouldn't mind dressing that way! Lovely textiles and looks comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they must be cool as well.
ReplyDeleteWe see this garb in the States, too. They do look comfortable!
ReplyDeleteClearly a lot more comfortable than a sari ..
ReplyDeleteGreat shot for the meme.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely looks comfortable -- and stylish too! Far more sensible than much of what I see here.
ReplyDeleteI could be comfortable in something like that, and the fabrics are lovely!
