MyWorld

Next to the cyclist who is doing his bit for a greener earth, there is the guy carrying pots of water for his daily use. This is a scene from the Aarey Milk colony in Goregaon, Mumbai.

  7. i watched a show on TV last night featuring one of the island- province here [in the Philippines]. they have no water--people dug wells but they only get salty water. and like this man, people have to fetch water from just one well that is being shared by 90 families. imagine that!

  8. nice picture....reminds us of how precious water is and how we take it for granted since it is still flowing out of our taps.

  16. Once again you've reminded me of something we take for granted - easy access to good water. Although on our honeymoon at a lake in Northern Minnesota, we had no running water, and I had to trek some distance carrying a pail in order to bathe and clean dishes.

  18. Thanks for sharing your world. Love pictures like this that show cultural diversity in different countries acrosee the globe.

I guess it is also a tradition for certain countries like India to carry things on the head. It's so amazing how they can balance the heavy load on the head and still walk very stabily. I've once seen someone when I was a little kid carrying so many things on the head. I wonder how she did it but everything was so properly arranged from small to large and the height was incredibly long.

  19. Did you watch Amazing Race in India? There are some beautiful buildings. But I don't like the attitude of the American contestants.
