Adarsh (Ideal) is the name of this skyscraper in the southern tip of Mumbai. Ironically this 'Ideal' 'Adarsh' building has become a symbol of corruption in governance (politicians & bureaucrats) here. They have broken almost every law in the book to build this structure and the benficiaries obviously are the politicians and bureaucrats. Our Chief Minister had to resign for this and many more heads are now on the chopping block.

Power and money corrupt people everywhere. It's a sad thing, a shame, but I'm not sure there is a solution.
ReplyDeleteOne problem, too, is that the guilty often get off with a slap on the wrist. Most of our Wall Street people should be in jail along with many of the major politicians in power between 2000 and 2008.
Unfortunately, they're still walking free and writing books! Ugh!
In the news for all the wrong reasons! I wish that this will not be razed. Instead, be converted into old age homes and rehabilitation centres!
ReplyDeleteSadly, we're seeing this sort of thing almost everywhere! I agree totally with what Jacob has written! A great post for the day!

Just like the perpetrators of the corruption, the symbol is also standing tall -- defying everything including the law.
ReplyDeleteWhen we start speaking about corruption it just go on & on . Nice capture though.... we see this building daily in news ...
ReplyDeletequelle construction, j'aurais le vertige en vivant tout en haut
ReplyDeleteReal hard work has gone in there to break every law in the book and more hard work to wriggle out through loop holes too :P
ReplyDeleteOnce they demolish (if indeed!) this, your capture would become historic!
ReplyDeleteIndia's not alone.. It's everywhere. Just that some places get exposed and others don't.
ReplyDeleteWon't be standing tall for long.
ReplyDeleteBonjour dear friend,
ReplyDeleteThis corruption inside the government is so terrible, so sorry about that.
The building is massive!
Great shot,
Léia

ReplyDeleteTake Care
It's a waste to demolish this building, the government should just take over and sell/rent them to the low income citizen.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is a symbol of an "Adarsh corruption", if one can call it that.
ReplyDeleteso tall... competing with heights of corruption...
ReplyDeleteIn tv they only showed bottom view, which didn;t give clear idea of its total height
Oh yes, I came across this news on BBC too.
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusal and interesting way to start the next round.
