The statue standing atop the dome of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus represents 'Progress'. It is the headquarters of the Central Railway system. Built by the British, it opened on the date of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887.

ReplyDeleteWhat I find fascinating is that this is gorgeous structure is a railway terminus...if you hadn't told me, I would have assumed it was some kind of cathedral or other religious building. Amazing!
