P.S EDIT: In response to all those wondering about the fate of the people occupying those hutments - There are various schemes that are offered depending on how long these people have been occupying that land. Either they are offered apartments in a building there or offered compensation to shift elsewhere.
Great aerial view.
ReplyDeleteNice shot...
ReplyDeletephoto magnifique de cette vue , qui nous montre une grande difference entre les immeubles et les maisons de tôles ;(
ReplyDeleteSad plight for the hument dwellers!
ReplyDeleteWhere will these folks go? ... a new dimension to the term "urban encroachment".
ReplyDeleteThanks, Magiceye!
this is such a sad view, for so many reasons.
ReplyDeletei believe utltimately all these shanties and slums will vanish from the city
ReplyDeleteThis sad view is being seen in many places these days. Hopefully, they'll be replaced in a way that will benefit the current residents.
ReplyDeleteif all these huts will be removed where will the poor live?
ReplyDeleteFeel bad for these poor reople, though they are given a place to live it is usually in the far away..they have to re-locate themselves and find new jobs in the area.
ReplyDeleteYour images give an insight into life in your city Deepak and it's not always fair, but it's there and definitely makes one think about things!
ReplyDeleteInteresting .The same thing is happening here too .
ReplyDeleteMost are taking up the offer for betterment but some linger on out of greed for more!! But I do agree relocating themselves is not very easy for the sick and aged who may be among'st them too.

Yes, I remember seeing Andheri as I took off from Mumbai airport...
ReplyDeleteIt's happening everywhere I reckon. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteHow dramatic a photo! I was wondering what would happen to the displaced people. The apartments look to be a better option for living than the hutments...
ReplyDeletea sad reality of urbanity but it's a good shot. my world is up too.
ReplyDelete"hutments"...that's a new word i learned today.:p here, we call them informal settlers, squatters, in most cases. it's one of the major problems in most cities here.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shot!
ReplyDeleteFantastic capture of the stark differences in the different lives living in Mumbai.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise I get to see this only in the movies :) thanks for sharing :D
