Saturday Photohunt - Metal and Dance

 
Lavni dancers wear Metal bells strung together (Ghungroos) on a belt, for their Dance performances. . Both the belts together weigh around 5kgs!

  17. This is once dance form that I've always been fascinated with...and well Indian dances especially Kathak have Ghungroos weighing roughly 5+ kgs. Even in our Odissi dance, we have to wear such heavy Ghungroos and there is a reason for it. The heavier the ghungroo is, the better is the effect of the steps performed. Kind of like weight training I guess!!
