A water fountain erected in memory of Bomonjee Hormarjee Wadia Esq. in 1880 in Bazaar Gate Street in the Fort area of Mumbai. He was a wealthy trader and the Sheriff of Mumbai in 1859. Unfortunately this structure is near ruins now.

You've shown some other rather ornate water fountains. 'Tis unfortunate that this gorgeous structure has been let go to ruin. I loved that phrase, "Sheriff of Mumbai." Sounds like the title of a "western" movie!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and tiny bit of history! Cool idea for a meme, too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame for it to be decaying when it's so ornate and full of history. I'm glad you've recorded it.
