I'd guess he is remembering a particularly happy time in his life, or is excited about his plans for the day. I hope he's careful as it's easy to fall when one slips on a banana peel. Or so I've been told.
It's hard to understand how one can make a living when there is so little to sell. Will he replenish the basket throughout the day, do you know?
