A sadly very common sight... I often leave mine at home. And I still live.
Good habit though I prefer to carry it in my pocket and refuse to answer any call on the street.
That´s pretty common in Finland as well. Dangerous imho, wouldn´t do it myself.
Its an epidemic!

I always wonder about those who do not look. Particularly those with children who are teaching their children to be uncautious as well. I'm extremely careful on the sidewalk and crossing the street with all the bicycles
