Hutatma chowk

Hutatma Chowk (Martyrs' Square) in South Mumbai is a memorial dedicated to the 106 protesters, known as Hutatmas, killed by police in 1955-1956 during the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement. Located at Flora Fountain in the Fort area. The site features a bronze statue alongside the Eternal flame, of a "Martyr with a Flame" created by sculptor Harish Talim to honor those who fought for a separate Marathi-speaking state.

The "Martyr with a Flame" bronze statue symbolizes the sacrifice of the protestors, featuring a man and woman holding a torch, representing the working class and farmers.
