Nuclear Goddess

Rithika Pandey's mural at Mumbai Urban Art Festival depicts a post-apocalyptic world that experiences a terrible flood, leading to the emergence of a "nuclear goddess".

She is a visual artist from Mumbai. Her artworks investigate the mystical spaces that exist within human entanglements, and issues of displacement, femininity, and hybridity. She paints imagined worlds that act as sacred spaces and highlight companionship and recovery.

Urban Art

Art installation by Sakshi Gupta at the Mumbai Urban Art Festival in Sassoon Docks.

Sakshi Gupta's (@sakshiguptastudio) works at the Mumbai Urban Art Festival 2022-2023 are a commentary on the contemporary world. Created from metal scraps, glass beads, and found material, they highlight the shift from the economics of heavy industry to the weightless age of information and technology.

The dialogue between the metal landscape and the pigeons questions the concept of waste, recycling and industry. The work reflects on the relationship between the natural world and the manufactured one.

Sakshi Gupta attempts to push the boundaries between art and life by juxtaposing materials in unexpected ways.

Fisherwoman

Australian artist Guido Van Helten's work at Sassoon Dock was prompted by his process of walking around the dock and engaging with its community. His instantly recognisable mural of a fisherwoman's face is grand in scale; a larger-than-life portrait of everyday life at the Mumbai Urban Art Festival.

Life in Mumbai

A beautiful depiction of life in Mumbai by Trespassers in a mural at the Mumbai Urban Art Festival.

‘Refraction of Reflections’ is an installation by Trespassers that captures the kaleidoscope landscape of people, animals, boats and objects of the dock. Embedded terracotta sculptural elements make the installation appear different from each viewer’s perspective. It also invites the viewer to create their own sculptures and be a part of the artwork.
Kerala-based Trespassers are a troupe of seven artists who aim to bring art to the public and initiate a dialogue between passersby and their painted facades. Ref St+art India
