Thursday Challenge - Silly

It is very Silly that a heritage fountain in the Crawford Market in Mumbai is painted in garish colours and used for storing fruit baskets. This fountain was designed by Lockwood Kipling - father of Rudyard Kipling.

  2. Oh goodness. What a thing to do to a heritage item!

But who am I to speak? Just saw some friezes in the City of Manila that were painted just as garishly. Horrible :(

  3. Very silly indeed. But colorful, for sure. I've never heard the name, Lockwood Kipling, but I'm sure I've always assumed that Rudyard had to have a father.

  4. You've taught me something new, that Rudyard's father was called Lockwood. Your photo is very interesting. I wonder what he was thinking when he designed this structure?

  9. Here in the UK the present government would probably tell them to pull it down and rebuild it.....

  10. Well now I'm wondering if the fountain was originally painted that way or if someone came along later and did it. Either way, it deserves better than to be used as a display case. But I suppose you use what you have, na?
