This is a Modak (sweet fried dumplings) Arti used to worship Ganesha who is fond of this dish.

Arti is a Hindu ritual employed in worship, part of a puja , in which light from a flame (fueled by camphor , ghee , or oil) is ritually waved to venerate deities .

Tree Ganesha

This year we got the eco friendly 'Tree Ganesha' home for the festival. Once done the idol disintegrates in the soil in a flower pot and saplings sprout up leaving you with a lasting memory of the Ganesha festival that commenced yesterday and will go on for 11 days.
