Our World

Was invited for a wine tasting session hosted by Wine Connoisseur  Shamita Singha (Miss Earth 2001), a brand ambassador for

Four Seasons Wines, at the Neel Lounge in Tote, Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai. The ambiance was perfect.
For me it was more of a wine appreciation course as all that I knew about wines was they are either red or white and paired with red or white meats.
Shamita in her introduction to the wines bust these myths and proceeded to explain how the new generation wines can be paired with any food irrespective of the meats. How one can enjoy wines following some basic principles of wine pairing even with spicy Indian vegetarian food!
The basic principle for pairing the wines with various food types was that one should be able to enjoy the wine and the foods individually without letting either overpower the other.
Shamita then went on to explain how wine appreciation involves all the senses.

See,

swirl,

smell and

sip she said to

enjoy the wine.

Four different types of wines from ‘Four Seasons Wines’ were then tabled and tasted with some fine hors

d’oeuvres from Neel (pub,restaurant,lounge).
We were also told that there are no hard and fast rules for pairing and one can try out various permutations and combinations till one arrives at a perfect pairing. The perfect pairing for one person need not necessarily be perfect for another. It all depends on one’s palate.

So go for it! Indian wines have started maturing! From the demure whites to the Classic red Shiraz!

Cheers!
